Chatham home suffers second fire in 15 months

A Chatham home was severely damaged by a fire for the second time in over a year.

The house in question is on Poplar Street, with the most recent fire happening last Friday.

According to Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue, the blaze was contained to the main floor.

The extent of damage is unknown as the home was still damaged from a fire in August of 2024. CK Fire and Rescue believes the home is unsalvageable.

The cause of the most recent fire is still unknown.

The house is vacant, but the back door was compromised. Despite the back door, there's been no other evidence to suggest someone was living in the home.
