CK health care providers partner during cold and flu season

The 'Right Care, Right Place' campaign has returned as cold and flu season sets in.

The campaign will see Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA), the Chatham-Kent Ontario Health Team (CKOHT), and the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit (CKPHU) team up to ensure residents know where to go for care, even if they don't have a family doctor or nurse practitioner.

"This campaign is about ensuring that every member of our community knows where to turn for the care they need," CKHA President and CEO Adam Topp explained. "By working together across organizations, we can provide consistent information, strengthen access to services, and support residents in making informed decisions about their health."

According to CKHA, vaccination is one of the most effective ways to protect yourself and your loved ones from serious illness. It also helps reduce strain on Chatham-Kent hospitals.

CKPHU will host a series of vaccination clinics for the flu, COVID-19, and RSV this season. You can learn more about the schedules and how to book appointments here.

Additional vaccination clinics will be offered at locations run by CKOHT, including pharmacies, BridgeCare, MobileCare, and local primary care offices. More details about those clinics can be found here.

'Right Care, Right Place' is also intended to help residents understand and choose the most appropriate health care option, whether they need advice from their family physician or nurse practitioner, same-day care at a walk-in or after-hours clinic, support through virtual urgent care, or emergency services for serious or life-threatening conditions.

"When community members know where to go - and take steps like getting vaccinated - it helps keep everyone healthier and our health system running smoothly," said Dr. Briana Yee-Providence, local Family Physician and CKOHT Primary Care Network Physician Lead.
