Intimate Partner Violence Arrest
A 39-year-old man from Chatham-Kent is back in custody after allegations that he breached his release conditions for repeated unwanted contact with a Chatham woman.
Chatham-Kent police said the accused was arrested on Park Avenue East in Chatham on Thursday on an outstanding arrest warrant.
Police noted that the unidentified man was released last Friday with conditions prohibiting him from communicating with a 40-year-old Chatham woman or going to places she's known to frequent. That's following a report of intimate partner violence and criminal harassment between the pair on August 17.
Police said the accused approached the victim at a local bus stop in Chatham following his release last Friday and uttered threats to damage her property. He also reportedly went to the victim's residence on Monday and attempted to contact her through various social media platforms.
The accused is charged with the following offences:
Two counts of criminal harassment
Uttering threats to burn, destroy, or damage property
Three counts of failing to comply with his release conditions

Dangerous Driving Charges
Multiple charges have been laid against a 27-year-old Chatham man following a serious crash involving an electric scooter and a minivan in Chatham.
According to Chatham-Kent police, the accused, who was riding an electric scooter, failed to stop and crashed with a minivan near Richmond Street and Inshes Avenue on June 27.
The man suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital in Chatham before being transferred to a Windsor hospital, police said.
The accused faces the following charges:
Dangerous driving causing bodily harm
Two counts of failing to comply with a release order
Four counts of driving while prohibited
Driving while suspended
Police said he was arrested on Blythewood Crescent in Chatham on Thursday.
The minivan driver was not hurt, said police.

Woman Arrested for Skipping Court
The law has once again caught up with a Chatham woman with a long list of charges.
According to Chatham-Kent police, the 40-year-old woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant at Park Street and Princess Street South in Chatham on Thursday.
CK police issued the warrant when the woman failed to attend court for several incidents that date back to last year. Charges against her include assault, uttering threats, break and enter, and mischief.
