The Thames River in Chatham is under investigation after concerns about dead fish.
The Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) was on scene over the weekend, helping Greenfield Global with cleanup after a fire at its ethanol plant last week.
In a statement, the company noted that while extinguishing the fire, firefighting foam was used, which may have ran off into the river.
According to a study done by the University of Guelph, certain foam can be extremely harmful and toxic to aquatic life.
MECP is aware of the dead fish but has yet to determine the cause, noting it may not be linked to this blaze.
