CK YouTuber to spend 7 days living in storage container for charity

In an effort to raise money for the local Children's Treatment Centre, a Chatham-Kent (CK) YouTuber is spending the week living inside a storage container.

Isaac Davey, a member of the Exordia Creative team, started the week with a container full of everyday comforts. However, throughout the campaign, donors can remove items from the storage container, including Davey's bed, blankets, pillows, fridge, Nintendo Switch, couch, and more.

"I’m excited to see how far people take this and how much we can raise throughout the week. I’m starting off pretty comfortably, but I have a feeling that won’t last very long," said Davey.

Smaller items like a clock, a plant, and a throw pillow will be removed for a donation of $25. Bigger items like his fridge and couch cost $1,000 to remove, and the most expensive item, his bed, is listed at $3,000 to remove.

Before the first day of the campaign had concluded, donors had already removed his pillow, one of four throw pillows, three of 12 energy drinks, a decorative pumpkin, and a Rubix Cube.

Davey added that losing these comforts is worth the money being raised for the Children's Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent.

The fundraiser is being led by Portable Storage, located in Bothwell, and Exordia Creative in Chatham, with a goal of raising $12,000 for the non-profit by the end of the week.

"It’s inspiring to see our community come together in creative ways to raise awareness and support for the children and youth we serve," said Foundation President and CEO Mike Granger.

According to a statement from Portable Storage, no matter what is removed from the storage unit, located in the Exordia Creative parking lot, Davey will always have access to food and water, heating and ventilation, safety equipment, and communication equipment.

Davey began his experience on Monday, October 19, and will continue living in the portable storage unit until Monday, October 26.
