Huron County opening Starter Company Plus applications on July 1

Huron County will begin accepting applications for the Starter Company Plus program intake on Canada Day.

The county says small businesses are encouraged to apply for the program, offered through the County of Huron’s Huron Business Centre.

The program "equips entrepreneurs with training, mentorship, and coaching to help them launch, grow, or purchase a small business. Participants also have a chance to receive a grant of up to $5,000," according to a media release from Huron County.

To be considered, interested entrepreneurs must submit a completed application by 4 p.m. on July 31.

The program’s training and support components will run from September to November 2026, offering sessions on business planning, financial forecasting, marketing, and more. Participants will also receive personalized one-on-one business advisory support from experienced local business advisors.

To qualify for financial grants, applicants need to complete a business plan package, cash flow projections and other key planning elements. A final stage will see applicants make a 10-minute pitch to a review committee.

To learn more about the program, eligibility requirements, and how to apply, visit www.HuronCounty.ca/economic-development or contact the Huron Business Centre at 519.524.8394 ext. 6.

"Each year, Starter Company Plus attracts entrepreneurs who are ready to take the next step in launching or growing their business," said Tricia Denomme, Business Advisor with the Huron Business Centre and lead Advisor for Starter Company Plus. "The program provides participants with valuable guidance, practical feedback, and business planning support to help them refine their ideas, strengthen their operations, and move forward with confidence."
