Goalie Kale Osipenko made a fantastic impression in his debut in net for the Sarnia Sting Sunday.
Osipenko made 14 saves in the Sting's 3-1 win over the visiting Kingston Frontenacs.
"It's been an unreal experience playing here and being here for the past few weeks," said Osipenko in a post game news conference. "The guys in front of me played an amazing game and that's how we got the win."
2026 NHL draft prospect Nolan Buttar scored the lone goal for Kingston.
Overage forward Ben Pickell scored his 10th goal for the Sting in the win.
Jack Van Volsen and rookie Easton Walos also scored for Sarnia, who won their second in a row after a 9-1 victory over Erie Friday night.
Sarnia Sting Captain Alessandro Di Iorio said although they didn't play their best Sunday, they played a well structured game defensively.
"I don't think we played our best game, but I think the part of making a push for the playoffs is when you don't play your best, you still have to find a way to win and I think we did that tonight," said Di Iorio. "So I think just finding a way when stuff isn't going your way will be huge for our team."
Di Iorio will be wearing the "C" for the Western Conference at the Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game on Wednesday, January 14 in Peterborough.
Di Iorio is an "A" rated prospect for the 2026 NHL draft, according to NHL Central Scouting, which means he's a candidate to be taken in the first round.
The Sting are home to the Soo Greyhounds on Thursday night.
