Sarnia couple plans Croatian vacation after ENCORE win

A Sarnia man is $100,000 richer after matching the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in the December 19, 2025 LOTTO MAX draw.

Gordon Currie, 73, said he's been playing the lottery for about 45 years.

He discovered his big win on New Year’s Day when he checked his ticket at the store.

“I immediately felt numb,” recalled Currie while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect his winnings. “People in the store were congratulating me, and I was very happy.”

Currie said his wife couldn't believe her eyes.

"She asked, ‘Are you serious?’ and kept looking at the ticket in shock,” he said with a smile.

Currie plans to travel to Croatia with his wife, which is on their bucket list, and invest the rest of the winnings.

The winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on Exmouth Street in Sarnia.
