New features added to Sounds of Summer series

More than 50 shows are scheduled to take place over the next few months as Sarnia's Sounds of Summer outdoor concert series returns.

The free initiative will kick off on Tuesday, June 2, with Scottish Night at the Suncor Agora at Centennial Park.

The live music series will feature local and out-of-town performers who play different genres such as rock, country, folk, jazz, and pop.

City of Sarnia Recreation Coordinator Rebecca Warren said shows will be held at different parks every Monday through Thursday until August 20, except for June 30, July 1, and August 3.

The Mitton Village Parkette was added as a new venue this year.

"We had some feedback about one of our downtown locations and we were looking to find a new location. This seemed like a great location to try out for this season. We're always looking to make some changes to the event," she said. "They have a stage installed."

Performances will also be held at the Canatara bandshell, the Seaway Kiwanis pavilion, the Kenwick Park gazebo, and the Germain Park stage.

Warren said the Sounds of Summer initiative is typically very well attended, with 100 to 200 attendees depending on factors such as weather and location.

Attendees will be encouraged to provide feedback this year.

"There will be a QR code on-site, people can scan that and we'd love to hear some feedback, what they like or what they would like to see changed," Warren said.

The full concert lineup can be found on the city's website.

All shows will begin at 7 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
