Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sarnia-Lambton may have figured out the perfect recipe for a sweet fundraiser as the sixth annual Big Squeeze approaches.
On August 5, businesses across Sarnia-Lambton will compete to create the best lemonade stand, while raising money to support youth mentoring programs.
Summer Student Emma Grant said about 74 participants have signed up this year, which is up from 60 last year.
"This is my third summer here, and every year I'm like, there's no way it can get bigger, and then it does!"
Grant said the community support has been "amazing," and with the event doing so well, they opted to keep it as is.
"This event has been so perfect in the last few years, that it really feels like we've perfected the algorithm," Grant said.
The fundraising goal is to beat last year's total of $44,000.
"Due to having about 90 youths on our wait list, we're really focusing on providing more group programming in the fall to fill that gap and get quicker service to some of our wait-listees," Grant said.
The Big Squeeze event will run from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
An interactive map with the participating locations will be posted to the Big Brothers Big Sisters website, along with a community passport.
"If you visit three stands, send us a photo, you'll get entered into a draw to win a $50 gift card to any of our participating businesses," Grant said.
As for the participating businesses, prizes will be awarded for best theme, best tasting lemonade, and most funds raised.
