Following a five-and-a-half-hour search, emergency crews have located the body of a missing swimmer in Lake Huron.
Sarnia Fire Rescue Marine 1, 2 and 3 were dispatched at around 3 p.m. on Monday to assist a swimmer in distress near the Cove.
Fire officials said an extensive search of the area was conducted with assistance from witnesses and using specialized equipment, including sonar and 3D imaging technology.
Members of the Sarnia Police Service, Point Edward Fire and Rescue, Lambton EMS, the Canadian Coast Guard, and the St. Clair County Sheriff's Dive Team also assisted in the search effort.
Sarnia Fire Rescue confirmed a body was recovered from the water and extended its condolences to the victim's family and friends.
Further details regarding the individual's identity have not been released.
