A couple of recent busts are being reported at the Blue Water Bridge (BWB), entering Point Edward.
Officers with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) recently seized over $3.6-million worth of contraband tobacco and nicotine products from two commercial shipments arriving from the United States.
On September 9, they confiscated 16,147 kilograms of bulk tobacco from a commercial driver coming from the United States, valued at $2.98-million.
The next day, they found nearly 5,000 kg of tobacco products worth over $90,000 and 500 nicotine vapes worth over $531,000 from a Canada-bound transport truck.
The CBSA said the drivers of the commercial trucks are Canadian residents and, under the Privacy Act, they cannot provide any further information about their identities.
The CBSA said it must look at each event based on the unique circumstances of the specific case they are examining.
In these cases, the product were seized with no terms of release, and the investigations are ongoing.
