The Forest Fall Fair is happening this weekend.
Executive Director of the Forest Agricultural Society, Gord Marsh, said there are three days packed full of events.
"We have live entertainment in our dining tent all day, every day at the fair. We have a petting zoo for the kids to get up close, meet and greet some animals. We have our livestock shows each day, a horse jumping show, which is fairly new for us. We also have our barrel racing show on Saturday and Sunday," said Marsh. "We have a fair dance here on Saturday night, and we have fireworks Friday night, which is always a big hit, and this year we're going with a bigger show than we've had in previous years."
The gates at the fairgrounds on Jefferson Street West open at 4 p.m. on Friday, and at 7 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
"We have the kids zone, which is free for the kids to use. It's full of toys and games, and a place where parents can just sit down and take a bit of a break. We will have a full midway this year with rides for little kids right up to teenagers and young adults who aren't scared to go on them."
The Forest Fall Fair is 156 years old, with the first ever one recorded in 1870.
Marsh said hundreds of volunteers are what make it possible each year.
"We have a core group of about 20 or 30 that meet every month year-round to plan the fair, but then once the time comes, we rely on the community to support us with lots of volunteer hours," he said.
Entry into the fairgrounds is $15 a day or $40 for a weekend pass.
