The Sarnia Sting dropped a 7-4 decision on the road against Peterborough Thursday at the Memorial Centre, unable to overcome a mid-game surge by the Petes.
Sarnia opened the scoring early in the first period when Tyler Challenger found the back of the net, but the Petes responded with two goals less than 30 seconds apart for a 2-1 lead heading into the second period.
Easton Walos tied it up for Sarnia on the power play early in the second period, but Peterborough responded with three goals and carried a 5-2 advantage into the final frame.
Peterborough extended the lead to 6-2 early in the third before Sarnia mounted a late push.
Walos scored his second goal of the night on the power play, followed shortly after by another Sarnia goal by Brenner Lammens to pull the Sting within two at 6-4.
A quick answer by Peterborough 19 seconds later sealed the 7-4 final.
Sarnia put quality pressure on Petes netminder Owen Nelson, peppering him with 42 shots on goal.
The Sting visit the Kingston Frontenacs on Friday night. Puck drop on Big Country 103.9FM at 7:05 p.m.
