For the first time in nearly 19 years, the Sarnia Sting won an away game in Ottawa, defeating the 67's 10-3 on Sunday.
The last time Sarnia won in the nation's capital was on November 18, 2007.
The Sting set the tone immediately, with Cameron Aucoin scoring just 29 seconds into the first period.
Jack Van Volsen, Alessandro Di Iorio and Tyler Challenger each netted a pair of goals for Sarnia in the blowout win.
Brenner Lammens, Adrian Sgro and Simon Katolicky also scored for Sarnia and netminder Evan Tkachenko stopped 24 of 27 shots.
After leading his team to a landmark victory on foreign ice, captain Alessandro Di Iorio reflected on turning the tables in a notoriously difficult rink.
"We lost 9-3 here last time, so we returned the favour," said Di Iorio. "It's a tough building to play, so to come and do that on the road, it's huge."
The Sting have their home opener on Friday, October 2 when they host the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
