MacGregor promoted to full time Point Edward Fire Chief

The Village of Point Edward now has a permanent fire chief.

Rick MacGregor has been appointed to the position after serving in an acting capacity since November of 2025 following the retirement of Doug MacKenzie.

MacGregor has been with the department since 2000 and became a Lieutenant in 2004 where focused on fire prevention and public education.

In 2011 Rick was named Deputy Fire Chief and Community Emergency Management Co-Ordinator.

Mayor Bev Hand is pleased.

“Rick understands Point Edward,” said Hand. “He knows our community, our people, and the values that make this village special. His commitment to building strong relationships and supporting our firefighters makes him an outstanding choice to lead the department. I believe that promoting from within the department will provide a measure of comfort for our firefighters."

Hand said his appointment follows a thorough selection process focused on finding a leader who reflects the village’s priorities: safety, preparedness, and a strong connection with residents.

Chief MacGregor said he's honoured to serve the people of Point Edward.

“Our firefighters are deeply committed to this community, and I look forward to continuing to work with them to strengthen our services, expand fire prevention and public education, and continue building relationships in the community," said MacGregor.

The village said under Chief MacGregor’s leadership, the department will continue enhancing community outreach, supporting volunteer firefighters, and ensuring residents have the resources and information they need to stay safe.
