The University of Windsor Lancers will host the 2026 U Sports men's volleyball championship.
"It's a big game changer for our team. We know now that we will be hosting and be a part of the championship in 2026 so I think it really will help to motivate and inspire our student athletes with their work every day," said James Gravelle, head coach for the UWindsor men's volleyball team.
The championship will host eight of the best university men's volleyball teams from across the country.
"It is one of our more exciting championships. It is always a competitive field," said U SPORTS Director of Sport Mark Alfano. "For men's volleyball in this country, USport is the top level of competition, we have a number of athletes that play on Team Canada that play professionally in Europe. It is an exceptional event and anyone who has not seen university sport volleyball in Canada, you've got to come out and see it."
The university's athletic department is excited to host the its first U Sports championship in the new Toldo Lancer Centre.
"I'm excited for people to come here and see not only what the city offers but this is a new facility and so many of these teams have never been here and seen this incredible facility," said Stephanie White, director of athletics at the University of Windsor.
The 59th edition of the U SPORTS championship will be held in March of 2026.
