Motorcyclist charged with dangerous driving in LaSalle

LaSalle police have arrested a 27-year-old man after receiving multiple 911 calls about his riding behaviour.

Police got the first report at around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The caller said a man with a silver helmet had been riding a motorcycle or dirt bike up and down Matchett Road for about 45 minutes.

While police were going to check out the complaint, dispatchers took several more calls about the dirt bike allegedly almost hitting an elderly woman on the sidewalk.

Officers stopped the rider, who was riding a street-legal dirt bike, arrested him, and charged him with dangerous operation.

The charge has not been proven in court.

The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone in the area of Malden Road between Sandwich Secondary School and Golfview Drive to check any security or dashcam footage from that time on Wednesday afternoon.

Anyone with information or camera footage to share should call LaSalle police at (519) 969-5210.
