Windsor's NextStar Energy is on track to start producing battery cells later this year.
It's been producing battery modules since last fall.
The company that will produce batteries for electric vehicles produced at the Windsor Assembly Plant reached a milestone yesterday: 8 million work hours of construction without an accident.
"This achievement marks more than work hours. It's a reflection of the incredible dedication and collaborative efforts from countless individuals working together," said NextStar Energy CEO Danies Lee.
Sean Thibeault, the product director at A-BM added the milestone demonstrates the scale of the work being done and A-BM's committment to a safety-first environment.
"I'm extremely proud of the commitment put forth by the incredibly skilled tradespeople, the A-BM team, and our subcontractor partners," he said.
So far, the company has hired 800 workers.
Construction on the plant started in August 2022.
Construction at the 4.23 million square foot plant is nearing completion, and the majority of work remaining involves installing equipment.
