Kingsville retirement home added to potential measles exposure list

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has confirmed the inclusion of a local retirement home on the list of potential exposure spots for measles.

Augustine Villas on Spruce Street North in Kingsville was added by the health unit on Friday. The exposure involved the entire building.

Anyone who was in the building from Wednesday, April 30, at 10:45 p.m., and Thursday, May 1, at 9:05 a.m., and between Thursday, May 1, at 10:45 p.m., and Friday, May 2, at 9:05 a.m., is urged to self-monitor for symptoms.

"Those who may have been exposed to measles, particularly those who are unvaccinated, should monitor for symptoms for up to 21 days after exposure," reads the webpage from the health unit. "Symptoms can include a fever, a runny nose, a cough, drowsiness, irritability, and red eyes. A red rash appears on the face three to seven days after the start of the above symptoms."
