What's open and closed on Victoria Day in Windsor-Essex?

The unofficial start of the summer holiday season begins with a three-day weekend.

Monday is Victoria Day, with Canada being the only former British realm celebrating a holiday commemorating Queen Victoria. Many Windsor-Essex points of interest will be closed or on shortened hours on Monday.

All federal, provincial, and municipal offices will be closed on Victoria Day. There will also be no Canada Post delivery.

Service Ontario locations will be closed on Monday, but some transactions such as licence plate renewals may be performed online.

All four public school boards serving Windsor-Essex are closed on Monday.

There are no spring classes at the University of Windsor on Monday. At St. Clair College, the south Windsor campus will be open, but there will be no classes or food service.

The LCBO is closed on Monday. Selected Beer Store locations, though, are open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Check the hours for your favourite location here. Alcoholic beverages may still be purchased at licenced grocery or convenience stores.

Windsor Crossing in LaSalle is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Victoria Day. Devonshire Mall in Windsor is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Tecumseh Mall in Windsor is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The 311 call centre will shut down Monday, and reopen Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The 211 call centre will be open 24 hours.

In the City of Windsor, residential garbage and recycling will proceed as normal. The same goes for commercial, front-end loader, and weekly recycling collections. However, the public drop-off and household chemical waste depot at Central Avenue and the E.C. Row is closed on Monday.

All community centres, indoor pools, and arenas in Windsor are closed on Victoria Day except for pre-booked events. The afterschool program will take Monday off.

The WFCU Centre will offer free public skating from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre's poll is closed on Victoria Day, but the fitness centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Adventure Bay Family Water Park is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The H-4 program at Windsor Water World is open 24 hours for those looking for housing assistance or experiencing homelessness.

The Francois Baby House and the Chimczuk Museum are closed on Monday, their normal days off. The new Streetcar No. 351 at the Legacy Beacon will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There is no charge for street-metered parking in Windsor on Sunday and Monday, but the city’s paid surface lots and garages will be open as usual. Municipal ticket payment offices will be closed.

Transit Windsor buses will run on a Sunday schedule on Victoria Day. The downtown transit terminal's customer care centre will be closed.
