You've got the green bin, now you want to know what can go in it.
The Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority plans to distribute that information at your closest library branch.
It announced a new partnership with the Windsor Public Library and the Essex County Library.
The campaign to educate the public about the green bin program and how it works will continue this summer. A new book, "The Apple Core," will help guide residents until the green bin program starts this fall in Windsor, Lakeshore, Essex, Tecumseh, and LaSalle.
The book was created by the Compost Council of Canada and is customized to support the local program.
"It's a fun way to remind residents that they have the power and the choice to put their food waste in the right place -- the Green Bin!" said a release from the Essex Windsor Solid Waste Authority. "If they use their powers properly, they will help create fertilizer that farmers will use for next year's crops and renewable energies."
Residents in Amherstburg, Leamington, and Kingsville will get their green bins in the fall of 2026. The collection will start soon after.
Residents can also visit with the five Green Superheroes each week and collect a new bookmark.
