Windsor Police say a 29-year-old man on probation after his convictions for drug and firearm charges faces new offences now.
Police say the man was convicted in March 2023 of possession of a firearm, possession of a restricted firearm knowingly not being a license holder, assault, and failure to comply with a non-communication order. As part of the conditions of his release, the man wasn't allowed to possess any weapons.
Then, in October last year, the man was granted bail for more charges, including possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, breach of probation, and failure to comply with a release order. This time, his conditions included residing with his surety, house arrest, and electronic monitoring.
When bail compliance officers investigated, they discovered the man had breached multiple conditions of his release.
Earlier this month, police arrested the man at a home on Howard Avenue and seized a knife.
He was charged, along with his surety. A surety is someone who agrees to supervise the accused person out on bail and ensures they comply with their release orders.
