Poilievre visits Windsor to show support to auto workers

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre visited Integrity Tool and Mold Inc. in Windsor Friday afternoon to show his support to Canadian auto workers.

He said he'd support the local industry by getting rid of EV mandates and eliminating the sales tax on all Canadian-made vehicles.

"We believe that Canadians should be able to decide what cars they build and buy and that's what we're going to do," said Poilievre.

As for trade with the United States, Poilievre said the industry would not be in this state of uncertainty if Prime Minister Mark Carney kept his election promise.

"If Carney had kept his promise to negotiate a deal by July 21 then all of the trade chaos that we saw today and prior would be behind us. But he broke his promise," said Poilievre.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced he was suspending all trade negotiations with Canada over an ad approved by Ontario Premier Doug Ford that featured comments from former President Ronald Reagan.

"I think the premiers are filling a void left by the weak leadership and broken promises of Mark Carney. He said he was going to have a deal, that he was going to handle Trump. He's seven months into his prime ministership, still no deal, still no win, still no elbows," said Poilievre.
