Tech inspired mural unveiled in downtown Windsor

A new mural in downtown Windsor marks the beginning of a partnership between the Haunted Zoo and Windsor-based tech company Red Piston.

The mural was unveiled on the side of Red Piston's headquarters on Chatham Street Friday morning.

"For the first time ever we've completely colour washed the mural, so that when you step back you see that the whole piece is actually a Canadian flag. We have red on either side and white in the centre, or scales of red and white and peppered throughout the whole piece are Haunted Zoo characters representing all different pieces of technology and Canadian innovation," said Christie Denomme with Haunted Zoo.

The co-founder of Red Piston Ali Al-Aasm said he was blown away by the finished product.

"It kind of creates this cool vibe and culture to this area. It breaks up this area, you've got the casino in the background but now you have this really cool, hip mural," said Al-Aasm.

As part of the collaboration Red Piston is developing a mobile app game which will feature many of the characters the Haunted Zoo uses in their public artwork throughout the city.

The game will be released in the spring.

The mural and its unveiling is also part of a docu-series that will feature a series of public art projects. The docu-series is being produced by the Haunted Zoo and Gavin Michael Booth.
