Windsor police say arrests have been made in connection with a pair of carjackings on the west end over the weekend.
Seven suspects have been charged, with two others on the run.
The first incident brought officers to University Avenue West on Friday night. Police say the victim was walking towards his vehicle when he was confronted by a group of suspects. One produced what appeared to be a gun and pointed it at the victim's chest. The suspect demanded the victim's belongings and fled the scene in the victim's car.
Three additional suspects, aged 18 to 20, were arrested this week in that incident. Charges included unauthorized possession of a firearm, pointing a firearm, assault with a weapon, robbery with a firearm, use of a firearm in the commission of an offence, aggravated assault, robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, and possession of stolen property over $5,000.
A 15-year-old boy was also arrested in Chatham-Kent.
A fifth suspect is at large. He is described as White with a slender build. He was wearing a green sweater with the hood up, beige pants, boots, and a blue bandana around his neck.
The second incident was on Division Road on Saturday night. Another driver was forcibly removed from his vehicle and assaulted. The suspects stole the victim's wallet, identification, bank cards, cell phone, and his vehicle. The victim was treated in the hospital for serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
At the scene on Division Road, police found the Volkswagen that had been stolen the night before.
Four people, aged 15 to 19, were arrested this week in the second incident. Charges included robbery with an offensive weapon, possession of stolen property, failure to comply with a Youth Criminal Justice Act sentence, and failure to comply with a release order.
A fifth suspect, a 16-year-old, is at large.
The 15-year-old tied to the two carjackings is also being charged in connection with a robbery in east Windsor on Sunday.
The charges have not been proven in court.
