An investigator will be at the scene of a house fire on Victoria Avenue on Thursday after a home under renovation went up in flames.
The fire at the home on Victoria between Montrose Street and Ellis Street West caused $750,000 in damage.
Fire crews entered the basement, searched the home, but as the flames spread, they decided to switch to a defensive strategy.
A total of 32 firefighters responded to the fire, which was reported around 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday.
Fire crews were able to transition back to an offensive strategy and re-enter the house for overhaul.
No one was hurt, but the cause remains under investigation.
At the same time, firefighters battled the fire on Victoria, other units were sent to a home at 16 Ellis Street East to extinguish a kitchen fire in one of the units.
