Windsor Assembly Plant employees donate $18K in toys

The holiday spirit has returned to Stellantis' Windsor Assembly Plant.

On Thursday, Sparky the Dog joined Santa Claus to accept $18,000 worth of toys donated by Stellantis and plant employees for the annual Windsor Firefighters' toy drive.

Five Chrysler Pacifica minivans were packed with donations, which will go to families in the region who are less fortunate.

"This is what the holiday season is all about, bringing joy to children and families who need it most," said plant manager Peter Vitti. "Our generous Windsor Assembly employees have a proud tradition of supporting Sparky’s Toy Drive for more than two decades."

"Stellantis employees and Unifor members at the Windsor Assembly Plant are always so proud to take part in Sparky’s Toy Drive,” added Unifor Local 444 President James Stewart. “This charity does so much good providing for needy children in the Windsor-Essex area during the holiday season.”

Toy Drive Coordinator Josh Easby said plant employees have never disappointed.

"We are truly grateful for Stellantis and the Windsor Assembly Plant’s unwavering support," said Easby. "Year after year, their generosity helps us reach thousands of children across Windsor-Essex. Without partners like Stellantis, this program simply wouldn’t be possible."

Some 1,200 families across Windsor-Essex, including almost 3,000 children, have registered for help this holiday season.

Residents may continue to drop off new toys at all seven Windsor firehouses through Christmas Day.
