Windsor Police have released their monthly crime statistics for December, and once again, there was a drop in crimes against people and property offences.
Police report 208 crimes against people in December, compared to 232 a year ago. That's a drop of 10.3 per cent. Those crimes include assault, sexual assault, and homicide.
For all of 2025, statistics showed a 5.2 per cent drop in all crimes against people in both Windsor and Amherstburg.
Abductions and forcible confinement jumped 133 per cent. There were seven complaints last year compared to three in 2024. Sexual violations were up 5.3 per cent, with 20 incidents over the past year compared to three in the previous year. Crimes in all other categories were down.
Property crime also fell in Windsor and Amherstburg, down 27.1 per cent for December, and 11.9 per cent for all of 2025.
Arson was the only category that saw an increase. There were eight suspicious fires in 2025 compared to four in 2024, marking a 100 per cent increase.
Crimes against people in Windsor dropped 12.2 per cent in December, and 5.1 per cent for all of 2025. Property crime in the city fell 27.3 per cent last month, while for all of 2025, it was down 11.6 per cent.
Amherstburg saw a 100 per cent increase in assaults, with ten reported assaults in December compared to five in December 2024. Overall, crimes against people dropped 9.5 per cent, while property crime fell 20.1 per cent for the entire year.
