ENWIN and E.L.K. Energy are celebrating a milestone with the addition of a second hydro line in Kingsville.
The update to the power infrastructure follows a similar addition in Lakeshore. That feed is now live.
Before the upgrade, Kingsville relied on a single feed, leaving the community vulnerable to power outages.
"The new dual-feed system splits the load evenly, ensuring either line can power the entire area during disruptions, reducing potential impacts to just half of the town, and enabling swift manual switching for minimal downtown," said a release from ENWIN. "With this project complete, Kingsville's system is better positioned to support future growth and maintain reliable service under increasing demand."
ENWIN's broader investments in E.L.K. Energy prioritize automated smart switching technology. Those upgrades will start this year. The switching technology will communicate directly with control rooms, minimizing the time of power disruptions.
"Completing Kingsville's second feed demonstrates our agility and dedication to frontline reliability for every customer. From Lakeshore to Kingsville, these targeted upgrades form a long-term blueprint for resilient power that grows with our communities," said Jim Brown, the Chief Operating Officer at ENWIN.
ENWIN announced last month it was adding a second power line in Lakeshore, after ENWIN assumed management for E.L.K. Energy in early December.
