Erie Shores Healthcare will receive an additional $2.33 million in annual base funding to improve patient services.
The increase was announced at the ribbon-cutting for a newly renovated Discharge Lounge at the hospital.
The funding will help improve the hospital's admission and discharge unit to improve transitions into and out of inpatient care.
"The Discharge Lounge is a simple change that makes a meaningful difference for patients and families. It helps us move care forward by freeing up inpatient beds sooner, reducing delays, and creating a calmer, more dignified space for people who are ready to go home," said Kristin Kennedy.
The hospital reports the unit has already improved wait times and has led to improved patient outcomes with shorter hospital stays.
The space was renovated with funds from the Erie Shores Health Foundation.
