Best of Windsor Essex Awards return with a refresh

Got a favourite spot in the region that deserves recognition? Voting is now open for the 2026 Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island Best of Windsor Essex Awards is now open.

The awards have undergone a refresh to reflect current traveller trends and now include seven new categories. The public can vote for the Best Brunch Spot, Best Global Flavours, Best Sweet Treat, Best Waterfront View, Best Overnight Stay, Best Waterfront Experience, and Best Shopping Experience.

"The Best of Windsor Essex Awards shine a spotlight on businesses and districts across the region, helping drive traffic, introduce residents and visitors to new experiences, and celebrate the unique stories that make Windsor-Essex special," said Vice President of Marketing and Communications at TWEPI, Jason Toner. "Each year, the awards help elevate both established favourites and emerging businesses, strengthening our local visitor economy."

Voting is open until March 1 online, and voters will have their choice among the top seven picks in each category. Those who cast a ballot will be entered for a chance to win a $500 grand prize.

More than 110,000 votes have been cast in the past decade of the awards, now into its 11th year, and have become a cornerstone of TWEPI's year-round marketing efforts.

"They help us craft the story of our region through the places locals love, from food and festivals to waterfront views, shopping and overnight stays, and that authenticity is what resonates most with visitors," said TWEPI CEO Gordon Orr.

The winners will be announced at the Capitol Theatre on April 14.
