Windsor's poet laureate looking for poetry submissions

The City of Windsor's Poet Laureate is looking for submissions as part of National Poetry Month 2026.

The Windsor Voices initiative is accepting submissions of six to ten line poems and photographs focusing on two themes this year.

"Upon hearing Windsor’s many distinct and varied ‘voices’ over the years, I have come to learn that there is a certain harmony and pitch that is recognizable, a joyful rhythm at play, a uniquely innovative tone that is remarkably our own. This initiative is about continuing to find new ways to tell our stories and welcoming fresh voices to align with some of our more recognizable talents. This is a wonderful opportunity to reflect and share the voices that make a community,” said Peter Hrastovec, Windsor’s Poet Laureate.

Contributors are asked to reflect on what Windsor means to them or the them of Land and Sea which is the 2026 them for National Poetry Month.

Selected submissions will be published as part of an online Zine and will be featured on screens throughout City-owned facilities.

Original poems and photographs can be submitted by email to culturalaffairs@citywindsor.ca between February 23, 2026 and March 20, 2026.

Full submission requirements can be found here.
