Four-day blitz in Windsor results in 257 charges

Windsor police's Traffic Enforcement Unit has had a busy week.

Officers were all over the city, conducting an enforcement blitz. Within four days, police laid a total of 257 charges against drivers.

Among the traffic stops was one against a 19-year-old man who was clocked going 91 kilometres per hour in a 50 km/h zone on Lauzon Road near Edgar Street. His vehicle was impounded for 14 days, his licence was suspended for 30 days, and he was charged with stunt driving.

A 63-year-old man was hit with $600 in fines after police say he failed to stop for a school bus and was not wearing a seatbelt.

Police also stopped a 32-year-old man for distracted driving after he was allegedly watching videos on his cell phone. He was cited for having a display visible while driving and was fined $500.

A 62-year-old man will try public transit for seven days after his vehicle was impounded. He was charged with driving while suspended.
