A new support is being offered to youth who've been the victims of gender-based violence.
The John Howard Society of Windsor-Essex County has launched its Supportive Approach to Finding Empowerment (SAFE) program.
Anyone 16 years old or younger who has been affected or is at risk of gender-based violence can access different services through the program.
This includes skills-based training on communication, boundary-setting, and healthy relationship development.
SAFE also offers financial independence and literacy education to youth, since a common way many are targeted is through financial control.
“Our goal is to create a safe, supportive, and empowering environment where survivors can access the resources they need to heal and thrive,” said Devon Reeb, Program Lead of SAFE.
The program is free and inclusive of all genders, backgrounds, and identities.
