Three vehicle crash on Hwy. 3 sends five to the hospital

A three-vehicle crash that injured five people on Monday is being investigated by the Ontario Provincial Police.

Police were called to the intersection of Hwy. 3 and County Road 31 just after 10 a.m. on Monday, along with Essex Windsor EMS, and the Leamington and Kingsville fire departments. The Ontario Provincial Police Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Unit was also summoned.

Five people were taken to the hospital. One passenger suffered life-threatening injuries, and the other four had minor injuries.

The crash shut down the highway between County Road 34 and Morse Road, and between County Road 31 and County Road 18. Those stretches have since reopened.
