EnerQuest in Harrow gets support for re-shoring manufacturing

The Ontario government has a $1.5-million grant for a Harrow company that plans to reshore production of switchgears from the U.S.

EnerQuest Technologies Solutions Inc. is expanding its facility in Harrow, creating 125 new jobs and protecting the jobs of 154 workers already employed at the plant.

It makes prefabricated electrical equipment, and plans to move its switchgear sub-assembly manufacturing in-house, reducing reliance on its U.S.-based sister facility. The move should mitigate the company's tariff risk and position EnerQuest to meet confirmed contract demands for critical data centre infrastructure, modular housing, and medical units.

"EnerQuest's expansion speaks not only to the resilience of Ontario's manufacturing sector, but to the reliability of our workforce and the power of partnership," said Ontario Economic Development Minister Vic Fedeli. "Through the Regional Development Program, our government is proud to support a company that is driving forward regional economic priorities and strengthening domestic supply chains through the reshoring of its operations."

EnerQuest is investing $15.8-million in the expansion.

"EnerQuest's investment will support growth and innovation across the local manufacturing sector and create more good-paying jobs for workers and families in Essex County," added Essex MPP Anthony Leardi.

Director at EnerQuest, Malena Marshall, said the expansion was only possible with the support of the community.

"Harrow has been more than just a location for our operations," she said. "It has been a partner in our growth. The support of local leaders, educators, and residents has helped create an environment where companies like EnerQuest can invest with confidence and build long-term careers for the people who live here."
