About 100 people have signed up to take a chilly plunge in Lake Erie to help children who have been diagnosed with cancer.
The Childcan Polar Bear Dip is still a week away, but those who haven't registered yet still have time. The event is planned for March 28.
Organizers say ten teams made up of childhood cancer survivors, families, bereaved relatives, and community supporters.
Micah, who is ten, and his family will share their personal experience after he was diagnosed with brain cancer five years ago.
Registration starts at 10 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 188 on Division Street South in Kingsville.
An hour later, the polar bear dip will commence at Cedar Island Beach, before returning to the Legion Hall at noon for lunch, an awards ceremony, and entertainment from British Beat 66.
Funds raised help provide children with cancer and their families with emotional, financial, and social support.
Childcan started supporting families with children diagnosed with cancer in 1974. Funds raised help provide services to those families from diagnosis, through treatment, post-treatment, and bereavement. It also supports essential research at the Children's Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre, and the University of Windsor.
