Ontario's NDP leader is in Windsor to meet with former workers from Amherstburg's now shuttered Diageo plant, and those still locked out at Titan Tool and Die on Howard Avenue.
This afternoon, Marit Stiles will host a roundtable discussion on jobs and affordability with Unifor Local 200 and Diageo workers at the Unifor Hall in Windsor.
Then, at 6:30 p.m., Stiles will host a town hall meeting about the Ford government's changes to the Ontario Student Assistance Program at the Unifor Hall.
In February, the Ford government announced that it was ending the tuition freeze on college and university education, allowing institutions to raise fees by 2 per cent for three years. Under changes to OSAP, students will only be eligible for up to 25 per cent of their funding as grants. The rest will be loans. OSAP will no longer offer grants to students at private career colleges.
Room for tonight's town hall is limited, and those interested in going are asked to register.
On Thursday, Stiles will meet with workers at Titan Tool and Die in Windsor. The workers have been locked out since August 11, 2025, after refusing to accept concessions in their contract.
Unifor Local 195, which represents workers at Titan Tool and Die, has accused the employer of using scab labour.
Titan Tool and Die announced in January that it was closing its Windsor facility.
