Leamington issues reminder about outdoor burning

As the weather gets milder and more people gather outdoors, one Windsor-Essex community is reminding residents about legal burning.

The Municipality of Leamington has cited its Open-Air Burning Bylaw, which requires residents to obtain a burn permit for any form of outdoor fire.

Permits must be applied for before starting any bonfire or before clearing any brush from your property.

The Municipality offers burn permit applications through its official website.

Allow three to five days for permit processing. If you're a first-time permit applicant, an on-site inspection from Leamington Fire Services will be needed.

Questions or concerns about open-air burning, or to get confirmation of burn pile standards, may be directed to Leamington Fire at (519) 326-6291.
