Renovations underway at Windsor Essex County Health Unit

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit is in the middle of $1.1 million of renovations to improve client experience and reduce barriers.

The capital funding from the provincial government was approved in December.

The renovations will allow the health unit to centralize client facing services on the first and second floors.

"We reshuffled the staffing and reallocated where people were and then put all the services within the first two floors for ease of accessibility, added some accessibility washrooms and also made the space more welcoming," said Dr. Ken Blanchette, Chief Executive Officer.

Renovations on the first floor are complete. Second-floor renovations will be done by the end of summer.

Blanchette said they are still putting proposals together to complete renovations on the rest of the building.
