Two charged in distraction theft in Windsor

Windsor police have charged two people in connection to a distraction theft investigation.

Police report a woman was in a parking lot on Walker Road when she was approached by two women. As they spoke, one of the suspects placed a necklace around the victim's neck. When the suspects left, the victim realized her gold necklace had been stolen.

The Windsor Police Target Base Unit started an investigation and identified two suspects.

The 21 and 23-year-olds were already in custody for similar offences in other jurisdictions.

The suspects were eventually turned over to the Windsor Police Service and were charged with fraud and theft.

Investigators are still working to determine if the suspects are linked to additional incidents in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Windsor Police Target Base Unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 4350.
