Tecumseh, Lakeshore unveil joint Manning Road commercial area

Two Windsor-Essex communities are promoting a shared border with a new commercial brand.

The Town of Tecumseh and the Municipality of Lakeshore launched a new joint commercial area on Monday, which straddles Manning Road, the dividing line for a portion of the two communities.

The two communities worked with the Tecumseh Business Improvement Association (BIA). The Tango Agency created the colourful banners that are now on display.

"This vibrant branding reflects the pride that both Tecumseh and Lakeshore have for our commercial districts and all that they have to offer," said Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara. "The campaign message, ‘Where Everything Comes Together,’ speaks to the strength of partnership and the importance of local businesses for our communities, and inspires entrepreneurs and business owners to create unique and connected experiences in Tecumseh-Lakeshore for years to come."

The commercial brand promotes businesses and hotels along Manning Road and Amy Croft Drive on the Lakeshore side.

"This branding is more than banners and signage. It is a celebration of local pride, local business, and the strong connection between our communities," said Lakeshore Mayor Tracey Bailey. "Together, we are highlighting the energy, character, and potential of this corridor and the people, places, and businesses that help define it."

The provincial government provided $30,000 to Tecumseh and Lakeshore for the project in 2023.

Tecumseh will reveal three other branded commercial districts by the end of 2026. They include Lesperance North, which covers the area of Lesperance Road and Riverside Drive East, and Lesperance South, for the area intersecting County Road 22.

The third will be Main Street, encompassing Tecumseh Road East between Lacasse Boulevard and the City of Windsor line, plus Lesperance between Lanoue Street on the south, and St. Jacques and St. Denis Streets on the north.
