New equipment used for radiation treatment at Windsor Regional Hospital is now up and running.
The radiation treatment linear accelerator (LINAC) replaces other radiation machines that have reached the end of their lifespan.
This is the second of three machines being replaced.
All machines are scheduled to be replaced by February 2027.
Windsor Regional Hospital does around 30,000 radiation treatments annually.
The new state-of-the-art device is used for external beam radiation therapy that destroys cancer cells while sparing healthy tissue. It can rotate around the patient to target tumors from multiple angles.
Money for the new equipment came from the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation and the Ministry of Health.
