Expansion at Oldcastle mould plant expected to triple business

A $1.6 million expansion at Hawk Plastics in Oldcastle was supported by over $250,000 in funding from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund.

The investment facilitates an expansion to the company's manufacturing operation with a new injection moulding press and supporting infrastructure.

"Some of our biggest customers in the auto sector, such as Toyota, Stellantis, Ford, we manufacture upwards of 9 million parts a year, and we're anticipating tripling that in the next six months," said Michael Semande, director of operations.

In addition to the new moulding press, infrastructure upgrades like a new loading dock, chiller and cooling tower, and relocation of an existing silo were also completed.

"It was a risk that we took, anticipating sales, and we're already seeing the fruits of our labour," said Semande.

The expansion allowed for an additional 16 jobs at the facility.

"This investment by Hawk Plastics is a vote of confidence in our region's manufacturing future, helping to spur innovation, expand operations, and create more good-paying jobs for local workers and their families," said Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie.
