The Essex Region Conservation Authority is looking for feedback on its management plan for the new Collavino Conservation Area.
The 150-acre wetland in Amherstburg was donated to the authority by Loris Collavino and family. It opened to the public in May 2026.
Now, ERCA has released a draft management plan that outlines objectives for restoring, managing, enhancing, and protecting the site's natural features. Officials are asking residents to review the plan and complete a short survey online.
“Community input is an important part of planning for the long-term care of Collavino Conservation Area,” said Kevin Money, ERCA’s Director of Conservation Services. “We want to hear what people value about this special place, what questions or concerns they may have, and how we can balance conservation priorities with safe, welcoming and sustainable public use.”
The survey will be available until August 21, 2026.
There will also be an open house at the Collavino Conservation Area on Tuesday August 11 at 6:30 p.m. Participants will be taken on a guided tour of the area and learn more about the plan. To register for the tour, visit ERCA's website.
