A 55-year-old man is facing almost a dozen charges in connection with a series of break-and-enters last month.
Officers were called to a break-in on Whitney Avenue near Prince Road at around 5 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22. They learned that a suspect damaged a fence to enter the yard, then spray-painted security cameras before stealing a handful of items from the garage.
The same suspect was soon connected to another burglary earlier that morning, at around 3 a.m. in the area of Myrtle Avenue and Prince Road. Again, the suspect vandalized a security camera before stealing items from a shed.
Police were soon able to link the suspect to a third break-in, which took place on Monday, July 13 on Northway Avenue near Labelle Street. The suspect broke into an attached garage, stole several items, then entered the home while the resident was sleeping to take additional property.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday following a short foot chase.
He is charged with two counts of break-and-enter other than a dwelling, one count of break-and-enter to a dwelling, three counts of wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offence, two counts of mischief under $5,000, and three counts of breach of probation.
The charges have yet to be proven in court.
