Suspect arrested in Windsor convenience store assault

Windsor police have arrested a woman in connection with a theft and assault at a local gas bar.

Officers responded to a panic alarm at a convenience store on Wyandotte Street East near Parent Avenue around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28.

Police say a woman came in, placed an item into her backpack, and tried to leave without paying for it. When confronted by an employee, a struggle ensued. The employee was scratched and bitten before the suspect took off with the stolen item.

Windsor police reported that a 33-year-old woman was arrested on Wednesday on Wyandotte Street East near Glengarry Avenue.

She is charged with assault and theft under $5,000. The charges have not been proven in court.

Investigators would like to thank the public for its help in resolving this matter.
