After representing Ward 5 on Windsor council for four terms, Ed Sleiman is not seeking re-election.
"I'm going to miss it," said Sleiman. "I've been doing this council job for the last 16 years. I take pride in what I have done all those years."
When discussing his time on council, Sleiman said that he has always been sincere and honest.
"I told the truth the way it is. Often some issues we can't resolve, and I'm not afraid to tell people that it's impossible to do it, but I'm not going to give up," Sleiman explained. "I always try it and try it again. If you are really persistent, sometimes it pays off.
Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens praised the councillor, saying he is the nicest and one of the most hardworking councillors he has ever seen.
"He is at City Hall almost seven days a week. Every single person around the council table knows Ed is one of a kind, and he's got the biggest heart of any councillor I know," said Dilkens.
Dilkens added that he will be missed, and Sleiman, as well as his accomplishments, will be celebrated.
The 83-year-old may not be serving on council, but he noted that he does not plan on just sitting and watching TV.
"I intend to stay active to the best I can just to make positive differences in the community," Sleiman continued.
Windsor residents head to the polls on October 26.
