This year's Open Streets festival is heading to the East End.
Residents are invited to walk, bike, and explore two distinct routes with seven community hubs.
"You're going to have interactive activities, things for the kids, for families; there will be performers, there will be cultural activities, you'll see some great food and beverage along the way," said Michael Chantler, Commissioner of Community Services at the City of Windsor.
Open Streets will be held on September 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The first route will run along Erie Street from Howard Avenue to Parent and then travel along Ottawa Street to Walker Road.
The second route will run along Wyandotte Street between Drouillard Road and St. Rose Avenue, passing the Pillette Village BIA and the Olde Riverside BIA.
"Our area specifically is a one-stop shop. There's so many different, wonderful things that you can do as far as services and places to eat," said Candyce Mollard, Olde Riverside BIA Coordinator. "There's some little places that people don't really know about, so if they're walking and riding their bikes around in a slower fashion, then they'll be able to check out the businesses in our area."
Participants can collect keepsake stickers at each of the seven hubs along the routes. The stickers feature artistic renditions of some of Windsor's iconic landmarks.
